YBR 2009World Finals Rules
Order of Events:
Mutton Bustin, Calf Riding, JR Riding, SR Riding, Pee Wee Bulls, Bull Riding
1. The judges will have the official times during the events. We will have an alternate behind the chutes with a stop watch in case of a malfunction from the latch side judge’s watch,
then his time would be used, the latch side judge will have the time in case the official buzzer malfunctions.
2. All riders will compete one handed this includes Muttons and Calves.
3. The four judges will score each ride 1-25 for the rider & 1-25 for the stock, then the scores will be added up and divided by 2 and this will constitute the score on a qualified ride for
the rider, the score will also serve as the rider’s points see example below. Times will be kept for the placement of the awards only. This will be in all age groups. Judges
decisions are final. Parents or other persons approaching, engaging, petitioning or protesting in any way which is distracting to the judges, arena directors, or YBR officials during the
event for any reason will be subject to having their child disqualified for the finals. Example: 1st ride 68 pts, 2nd ride 70 pts, 3rd ride 72 going into the short go the rider would have
210 pts.
4. All stock from Bull Riding to Calves will be flanked; no flanks will be used on Muttons. Hot Shots may be used in the Muttons at the rider or parent’s discretion. There will be no
using of the hot shot prior to the ride unless to get animal up or loaded into the chute. If you do not use the hot shot in Mutton Bustin you will not be allowed a re-ride. It is also the
responsibility of the contestant to make sure he or she is competing on the correct head of stock. Competing on the incorrect stock will result in disqualification on that ride.
5. In the event of a tie for Champion or Res Champion, in the event in question, then there will be a ride off. The Contestants involved will draw their animal from the hat. If there is a
tie just for placing then we will have a coin toss to decide on the placing.
6. Stock will be drawn before the bull riding starts. The draw is done by the judges, the arena director and monitored by the President or Vice President of the YBR. Contestant will
not compete on same head of stock in any performance that he/she has drawn previously, this also includes re-rides, except in the short go, and contestants could draw the same animal.
7. No unauthorized personnel will be allowed into the secretary area PERIOD until the sheets have been tallied for that event. This will help to eliminate the possibility of errors, as
we want each rider to get the most accurate count.
8. Riders please have your ropes on and are ready to go. When the rider in front of you goes you should be down on your stock and getting ready.
9. The use of abusive, profane language, or fighting by any contestant, parent or any person attending the event or staying at a host hotel
acting in an unruly manner during the YBR World Finals of which is then report by the hotel manager back to the YBR office will be subject
to disqualification of the finals. THIS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!!
10. Western dress code will be in effect during the World Finals and any events that you are ask to participate in. This is for anyone and
everyone entering the “Limits of the event”. This includes all Dads, Moms, and or Helpers. Each contestant and one helper will be given one
pass each, this will be your access to the arena and bucking chutes and MUST BE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES NO EXEPTIONS. These will be
given out at a MADITORY MEETING to be held the morning of the first round.
11. NO Alcoholic Beverages are allowed by the contestants. If a parent chooses to drink at the venue and is deemed intoxicated. Or Any
Contestant or Contestants parents is found drinking any type of alcoholic beverage in or around the arena they will be disqualified or have
said child disqualified.
12. Awards are giving as follows: Champion Buckle for each Performance Champion & Short Go Champion

13. There are also rules in the rulebook that will be enforced as well. All contestants and parents will abide by the YBR rules and regulations at all times. Failure to understand these
rules will not be accepted as reason for non-compliance.
14. Announced times and scores are unofficial.
15. The top 10 scores after 3 performances will return for the Short-Go. If there is less than ten then we will take the number of riders that have qualified. A contestant could qualify on
one head. Again no more than ten will return to the short-go, unless there is a tie for the tenth position.
16. Contestant will have 30 seconds to call for their animal once the gate men get to them. The back judge will have a stop watch and keep times. It will be at the back judge’s
discretion if the contestant is being given a fair shot by the animal.
